A New Governor General has been Appointed for St. Lucia

A new Governor General has been appointed, but St Lucians will have to wait a bit longer before government can confirm whether the reports of a replacement for Dame Pearlette Louisy are true.

 

Reports suggest that Neville Cenac has been selected to succeed Dame Pearlette Louisy who demitted office on December 31st, after serving in the position for 20 years.

The St Lucian public has come in for high praise as Police report a quiet festive season over the new year period between December 31st and January 2nd. The disclosure comes from Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations Frances Henry, who was on duty during the Assou Square Activities in Castries.

Two St. Lucians are currently in police custody assisting with investigations into the shooting death of two non-nationals, according to a law enforcement source.

 

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 31st, sometime after 8 p.m. on the St. Jude Highway in Vieux-Fort.

Office of the Governor General Denies Reports of Dame Pearlette Louisy's Retirement

The office of the Governor General has denied reports that Dame Pearlette Louisy is set to retire by December 17th.

This follows reports of the resignation that first surfaced here in April when Prime Minister Allen Chastanet refused to be drawn on the matter. He would however note that it is ‘very unusual’ to have a Governor General in the position for such a long time.

Mon Repos Domino Masters Club - Mokai 3 Hand Team Domino Competition
The Mokia 3 Hand Team Domino Competition, which was made possible through brand manager Derek Louis Fernand, has also brought Smirnoff and PINEHILL juices on board, continued on Tuesday evening. In Group A, Rosemadin's Place made it an interesting game up until the fifth set, where they were able to be in a commanding position and take the game home, and in so doing, top the points standing. M & N's Restaurant & Bar who were in second place up until the fifth set, had a very poor showing in the final set and allowed Mesic's Bar to snatch the second place in that match.
