National Telethon Set for May
A local charity has announced that the focus of its largest fund raiser will be in honour of a renowned St.Lucian musician.

The National Community Foundation has announced details of this year’s 13th annual National telethon during a press launch on Tuesday morning. The organization is aiming to hit the target of EC $200,000.

UK Court of Appeal Endorse Saint Lucia's Position on Juffali Case
The Government of Saint Lucia has welcomed the judgment from the United Kingdom Court of Appeal today, which it says is a clear endorsement of Saint Lucia’s position on the Juffali case.

The Government has consistently maintained, throughout these proceedings, that to have waived Dr. Juffali’s diplomatic immunity for the purposes of a divorce case would undoubtedly have created a dangerous precedent that could compromise current and future Saint Lucian diplomats in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.

US President Barack Obama Visit Cuba

St. Lucia Observes World Water Day
As part of activities to observe World Water Day and in keeping with the theme Water, and Jobs”, Better Water Better Jobs,    the Ministry of Sustainable Development Energy Science and Technology and the WRMA with the support of several agencies, is implementing a US$20M project to overhaul the water infrastructure in Vieux Fort and surrounding communities.

The project is aimed at boosting socio-economic activity in the south of the island.

WASCO Issues Notice of Dam Closure
The Water and Sewerage Company Inc. (WASCO) has issued a public reminder that it will 'shut-down' the water supply from the John Compton Dam which serves the north of the island on Tuesday March 22, 2016.

The shut-down is to facilitate important maintenance and repair work on the raw water line of the John Compton Dam Water Supply System. The shut-down will commence at 6:00 AM and will continue for the rest of the day.

Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred on Sunday, March 20, 2016 about 9:45 p.m. on the Vieux Fort Highway in the Canelles area.

Motor cycle registration number PK 200 was driven by 29 year old Francis Giraudy of Corinth Gros-Islet, when it run-off the pitch surface of the road.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 17 year old, Joshua Hinds of the Morne, Castries.

According to reports, on Sunday, March 20, 2016 about 4:20 p.m. Hinds was swimming in the sea off the coast of Ti Kaye Beach in Anse La Raye when he suddenly submerged.

Major Flooding Reported on Some Parts of the Island
Isolated showers caused by a weak surface trough have caused major flooding in some parts of the island today.

The disclosure was made by the Director of Met Services Andrew Joyeaux who observed that while certain parts of the north and south of St Lucia continue to experience dry weather, the opposite obtained in the Bexon and Tamazo areas.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 56 year old, Ceasarius Bailey of Augier, Vieux Fort.

According to reports, on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 about 6:50 a.m. Bailey was found lifeless in his dwelling house. A bottle containing what appeared to be a poisonous substance was found under his body.

A Civil Servant who has been serving the Government of St Lucia for 20 years says he is concerned about a recent threat on his life by a special police constable.

The man says the threat which was issued on Thursday last week by his ex’s boyfriend has been reported to the police, but since then the response by officials has been slow.

Stranded Beak Whale at Tapion Beach Reported
The Department of Fisheries received a report of a stranded Beak Whale at Tapion Beach measuring 15 feet with an estimated weight of 1000 lbs.  

Given this report, the Department of Fisheries wishes to advise fishers and the general public that the Fisheries Act make provisions for the protection of Marine Mammals in Bays and Harbors.

Easy Sky Airline Announces Inaugural Flight from Honduras into St. Lucia
Honduras based airline Easy Sky, which late last year signed an agreement with Caribbean Travel Agency –BEDY Travel, has announced the arrival of its inaugural flight from Honduras into St Lucia on March 31st 2016 at the Hewanorra International Airport, with a return flight to Havana, Cuba on April 1st 2016.

The airline will operate two Boeing 737 / 500 series flights between St Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, Cuba and Honduras, with a flight capacity of 125 passengers.

Brazen Robberies throughout Castries Continue
The brazen robberies throughout the city of Castries continue as a group of young men terrorized and robbed several people over the weekend.

According to eyewitnesses a group of about 15 to 20 young men attacked and stripped random people of their property on Friday evening between 11 and 12 o’clock. The robberies took place near the taxi stand on Jeremie Street. Onlookers said the group was loud and rowdy and appeared to be average party goers until the assaults began.
