The National Consumers Association is moving ahead with plans for the global observance on International Consumer Rights Day on Tuesday next week.

A number of activities have been planned in the run up to the event. They include a campaign coordinated by the NCA to get antibiotics off the menu.

Taxi Driver Recounts Robbery and Assault Incident which Resulted in Tragic End
A well known taxi driver who operates from the stand on Jeremy Street says he is grateful to be alive after a horrific robbery and assault experience that have resulted in a tragic end.

Mr Eddison Maitland says he was approached by a young man late last night who hired him for a trip to Morne Du Don Balata. He says the man told him that he did not have enough to afford the fare but Maitland agreed to take accepting the trip.

Babonneau Youth Launches Adopt-A-River Programme
The Youth of Babonneau have launched an initiative to save St.Lucia’s natural resources.

Babonneau Youth Synergy launched an Adopt-A-River programme on Wednesday at the Babonneau constituency council office. The initiative will take the form of a tree planting exercise along river banks throughout the community in an effort to combat erosion and other man-made as well as environmental hazards.

Community Hosts Festive Street Show
A community in Castries uses youth talent to dissolve the negative stigma surrounding their neighborhood.

The Faux-a-chaud Dance team along with singers and artistes from the community hosted a festive street show on Sunday afternoon. The show included children from ages 6 to adults older than 50. It was an artistic fusion of which displayed the talent that residents of Faux-a-Chaud have to offer the world.

SLASPA Control Operators Complete Programme in Radar Situational Awareness
The St. Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority has collaborated with French Civil Aviation Association team to improve the efficiency of air traffic control operations.

Twenty-eight traffic control operators completed a weeklong programme in Radar Situational Awareness which began last year and received their certificates on Monday at SLASPA’s headquarters.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 61 year old, Christopher Diachuk, a Canadian national who was vacationing in Soufriere.

According to reports, on Saturday, March 5, 2016 about 2:00 p.m. Diachuk went on an unauthorized hiking expedition on Gros Piton in Soufriere. Whilst there he encountered difficulty and lost consciousness.
