4000 Jamaicans Issued Clean Police Certificates Under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
Almost 4,000 Jamaicans who had criminal records for minor ganja offenses have so far been issued with clean Police certificates under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act passed in 2015.

During a presentation to Parliament on Wednesday, Justice Minister Delroy Chuck said amendments to the Act saw 71 people being qualified to have their offenses automatically erased.

ECTEL Pushes for Better Pricing and Services for Consumers.
An official from (ECTEL) Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority says the organization is currently working with telecommunications service providers to push for better pricing and services for consumers.

Imbert Charles managing director of ECTEL, spoke about the current initiatives currently being implemented within the regulatory body. He spoke about the organization with RCI News prior to an OECS Ecumenical service which took place on Wednesday morning at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

Fire Destroys Well Known Business in Castries

A fire has destroyed the interior of a well known business in Castries.

Flames took over the Brawo’s electronic equipment building On High Street around 4:40 pm on Wednesday. The blaze engulfed the interior of the building while the exterior appeared nearly untouched. According to witnesses no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.

A total of Fifteen Ministers have been sworn in to form the new cabinet of Ministers in the Allen Chastanet led UWP administration.

It is the first time the swearing in ceremony has been held at the Philip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort. Five senators were sworn in along with several ministers.

According to official reports from the St Lucia Fire Service a distress call was lodged at 1:35 pm indicating that a wooden and concrete structure along the millennium highway.

OECS Organizes Building Energy Efficiency Project to Improve Energy Conservation
The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States in collaboration with German company GIZ is using environmentally friendly programs to help organizations increase their savings.

The OECS launched (BEEP) or Building Energy Efficiency Project in August 2015 which was used improve energy consumption throughout various organizations. Energy conservation subsequently assists companies in saving money. The commission hosted a conference on Monday morning at Sandals La Toc to inform its members of the programmes success.

Pickup truck registration number PD 809 driven by Eldon Wilson of Anse-Ger, Micoud was travelling in a westerly direction when it ran- off the Blanchard main road hitting 62 year old, George Willie aka “Fwere George” of Blanchard, Desruisseaux.

The declaration of the new Cabinet, members of which will take their oaths of allegiance on that day, will confirm the executive arm of the Government of Saint Lucia. The new executive will manage the affairs of the nation for the next five years, or until such time as the Prime Minister deems necessary.
