Despite suggestions that election results in Guyana would have been released on Wednesday, there is still no word yet from the country’s election commission on the outcome of the poll.
Amid growing pressure, The Guyana Election Commission GECOM on Tuesday afternoon released its first set of preliminary results from Monday’s general elections. The results registered a total of 570,787in 2,299
GECOM chairman Dr Steve Su-ruj-bally on Tuesday restated that the commission has the sole right to declare the elections results and anyone doing anything else is “playing a dangerous game.”
Both the major political groups have issued statements expressing optimism of winning yesterday’s pivotal general elections. Su-ruj-bally’s statement came amid the absence of any preliminary results from GECOM.
