As the Government and people of Dominica begin the process of recovery and reconstruction in the aftermath of tropical storm Erika, the nature isle’s Prime Minister has called for the assistance of the Parliamentary opposition to assist in the effort.

The invitation was extended on Friday evening when Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit addressed his nation for almost twenty minutes.

He informed that all twenty one elected parliamentarians will be part of the National Reconstruction Advisory Committee, which met on Saturday morning.

They will be charged with formulating a strategy for relieving immediate suffering, rebuilding homes and infrastructure, diversifying the economy, and generating wealth to improve the standard and quality of life of Dominicans

Tropical storm Erika dumped tons of train on Dominica, resulting in severe flash flooding and the destruction of several homes and infrastructure.

According to reports, almost three dozen lives were lost as a result of the disaster.
