Recognizing some of the challenges facing Women and girls, local lawmen are doing their part to assist with protection for them.
The self-defense training and fitness classes was the topic of one of several discussions on RCI’s Newsspin program on Wednesday.
According to one of the police trainers, the objective of hosting the free sessions is to assist women with ways to heighten their awareness of their surroundings and to defend themselves in case of an attack.
The lawman stressed that the increasing number of sexual assaults on women has prompted the need for such services. He adds that it is available for all interested women three days a week at the Police Canteen on Bridge Street.
According to international experts, one out of every 6 adult women has been a victim of rape.
