A multi-jurisdictional inter-agency operation in the south of the island has resulted in the arrest of two (2) Saint Lucians and one (1) Vincentian aboard a local go-fast vessel which was about to land controlled drugs into Saint Lucia.
The interdiction took place on Thursday night.
During the operation which comprised maritime, aerial and land assets; four (4) bales and five (5) bags of compressed cannabis weighing 97.3 kilos (214lbs) were discovered and seized after it was thrown out from the go-fast vessel. A further 1.4 kilos (3lbs) was discovered on the person of one of the suspects.
During the interception, one of the suspects received a single gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to St. Jude Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile police have denied reports that a lawman was shot or injured during the operation. It is also being reported that United States Assets were not involved in this operation as has been suggested.
Charges are expected to be laid soon.
