Isolated showers caused by a weak surface trough have caused major flooding in some parts of the island today.

The disclosure was made by the Director of Met Services Andrew Joyeaux who observed that while certain parts of the north and south of St Lucia continue to experience dry weather, the opposite obtained in the Bexon and Tamazo areas.

He cautioned that while the situation is expected to improve throughout the course of the day, commuters traversing the affected areas must continue to remain cautious.

Joyeaux explained that the rains are expected to contribute to improving the local water supply, amid reports that the dry spell is not over

Rainy conditions due to the trough are expected on Thursday.
