A call has been made on local officials to use an upcoming international event to increase visibility for the newly re-named Darren Sammy National Cricket Grounds.

It comes from veteran cricket commentator Joseph Reds Perreira ahead of a scheduled test match where the West Indies will come up against India.

Perriera anticipates that the midweek event will be thrilling in light of what he terms could be a revenge match by the Indiand, following their defeat the recently concluded ICC World T20 championship tournament.

He has called on authorities to capitalize on the opportunity to market St Lucia and Darren Sammy who led the West Indies T20 team to victory on two occasions.

Pierra believes that strong efforts should be made to market the test match overseas as many Indians living abroad may come to St Lucia.

The test match between India and the West Indies is carded for July.
