Organizers of the 13th Annual Telethon have acknowledged that the hosting of two major political events over the weekend may have impacted the outcome of the exercise.
The national fundraiser took place on Sunday at the national Cultural Centre and raised a total of one hundred and forty thousand dollars—well short of the quarter million dollar target.
Speaking on the event today NCF Executive Director Madonna Monrose says despite the distractions the exercise was successful. She is hopeful that more donations will flow in from individual contributors
Monrose, says since the changes to the format of the event in 2014, there has been a significant decline in the NCF’s expenses, with not much has changed in the amounts collected.
The funds raised from the NCF Telethon are expected to assist with healthcare and educational expenses among others for some of the most vulnerable in St Lucia.
