A detailed explanation is yet to be issued on the return of several St Lucian scholars studying in Venezuela this week.

News of the development came following the release of a communiqué signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Innovation Gender Relations and Sustainable Development  Esther Brathwaite on June 22nd.

The news release advised that the St Lucian students who were awarded scholarships to pursue medical degrees in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela had to be brought back home by the government of St Lucia because of existing conditions in Venezuela.

It adds that the welfare of the students at any educational institution is a priority for the government of St Lucia. The release also stares that other options are being explored that will allow students to pursue higher education
