A twenty-eight year old man has been arrested by the police in connection with the alleged rape of a woman.
The alleged incident occurred at the woman’s home in Mon Repos, Micoud.
The alleged perpetrator is known to the victim who is in her thirties, it is reported. The suspect is accused of forcing himself into the woman’s home on Wednesday last week, where he proceeded to have sexual intercourse with the mother of several children without her consent.
The victim, who spoke to the Times, said that he forced his way into her home through a two-piece door about 11:25 pm. The woman said she was alone at the time. She recalled that the man had wrapped himself in a bed sheet under which he wore a tee shirt and black boxer shorts.
According to the mother, the man pushed her on the sofa and threatened to kill her if she screamed.
She said he later forced her onto a bed where he proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her. The woman recalled that she managed to escape after telling her assailant that she wanted to urinate urgently outdoors.
She told the Times the assailant demanded to know whether she had a receptacle under her bed in which to do so, to which she replied in the negative.
She said although the man accompanied her to the door, she was able to run away after pretending to stoop down in the yard outside.
The victim said she was told that her attacker was recently released from prison after serving time for another rape.
She disclosed that the incident has left her badly shaken and unable to sleep at nights. The matter is currently being investigated by the Vulnerable Persons Unit of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
