Local authorities have come under fire from a rape victim for the inefficiencies that cause delays in the justice system.
The woman who called in to RCI’s newsspin program on Thursday last week, was prompted by news of the rape of a Micoud Woman in her home almost two weeks ago. She disclosed that that in her case, the matter has taken eighteen years to be heard the high court.
She also recounts the experience in court calling it embarrassing and degrading, after having been through the trauma of being sexually violated.
She is demanding more action and less talk from local authorities, that will eliminate such inordinate delays in court.
The woman who engaged with Newsspin Host Timothy Poleon about her ordeal also believes that the inaction on the part of authorities may be as a result of the level of security and protection which they enjoy because of their social status.
She has made a plea for more emphasis to be place getting justice for rape victims in a timely manner.
