Soca Artiste and Rise St Lucia activist Jonathan ‘Ninja Dan’ St. Rose who was accused of murder has been released
The development comes just months after St Rose and two other men who were also jailed in connection with murder of a Pavee man, pled guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter. The trio was sentenced to 20 years in prison last year.
Reports are that St. Rose and his co-accused had filed an appeal against their sentence last year in the High Court and were successful.
St. Rose was charged along with Lyden Blasse and Marvin Terry Nelson in connection with the February 2009 death of Dwayne ‘Chubby’ James.
James was stabbed multiple times at Maynard Hill, Marchand on Saturday, February 14, 2009.
St. Rose and his colleagues had been on remand for over seven years at Bordelais Correctional Facility.
Ninja Dan spoke to our news desk earlier today following the court proceedings.
While he would not speak to his immediate plans for the future, Ninja Dan says he is grateful to his family friends and his legal team who never gave up the fight for his freedom.
Ninja Dan was released from prison earlier today.
