A small group of protesters converged on Parliament today ahead of the Senate sitting, demanding the resignation of the Leader of Government Business Dr Ubaldus Raymond.
Dr Raymond has been at the centre of a sex scandal with a former student of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.
The affair became public in January when nude images and screenshots of conversations allegedly between Dr Raymond and the teenage girl surfaced.
According to a spokesperson for the group of protesters Corneilia Jacob, the Prime Minister’s response to the situation and his failure to have taken action on the matter has sparked the demonstration.
Jacob says today’s protest is only the start of a plan to push for the dismissal of Dr Ubaldus Raymond. She says the organization is willing to go the distance in applying pressure on the government.
She has also dismissed suggestions about the misuse of social media and that Dr Raymond was engaging in a private act which does not diminish his capacity to work on behalf of the government
Jacob says the protesters are from various parts of the island.
