Roman Catholic Christians around the world are observing the ceremonial holy week, that marks the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
According to Father Michel Francis, the commemoration is a time when Christians reflect on god’s sacrifice and the death of Jesus at Easter.
He notes that parishioners in St Lucia are very involved in the ceremonies, because they are knowledgeable about its meaning and significance.
He adds that while many may see the tradition as mundane, it deepens the faith and spirituality of Christians.
A series of activities began here on Palm Sunday to mark Holy Week. It is expected to run until Sunday when, Christians will celebrate Easter Sunday.
