St Jude Hospital has teamed up with First Caribbean International Bank to host a health fair in observance of World Health Day today.

Public Relations Officer at St Jude Hospital Shervon Alfred says the intention is to focus on depression and to break the stigma associated with the mental illness. The aim is also to encourage members of the public to talk about the condition which can affect anyone.

The fair which is taking place on Clarke street will also include a presentation by a psychiatrist in keeping with the theme for World Health Day—Depression: Lets Talk.

Alfred informs that today’s health fair will attempt to identify people who are at risk for depression and to point them in the direction of the requisite healthcare providers.

Other screening services including blood pressure checks will also be available at today’s health fair. The event is being held free of charge to the public.
