The introduction of Trans Island Air could pave the way for competition in regional air travel.

This comes as the government welcomes the small airline which is now responsible for transporting the St Lucia delegation to the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting in Grenada.

Speaking during a small ceremony today the Chief Executive Officer of Trans Island Air Bruce Koffman, applauded the Prime Minister for what he says is recognizing the critical role that air transport plays in achieving regional and national prosperity.

The airline service comes at a time when the embattled regional carrier Liat, continues to face a number of financial and other challenges.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Allen Chastanet applauded the decision by Trans Island Air to service the region at affordable prices.

According to the Prime Minister the entry of Trans Island Air is the beginning of more improvements to come.
