The first of 260 boats participating in the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers race, which started from Las Palmas Gran Canaria in late November, has crossed the finish line. The vessel named CARO, which broke the ARC speed record set in 20066 arrived at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina early this morning.
Public Relations manager at the St Lucia Tourist Board John Emmanuel says a small ceremony was held today to welcome the winning crew members. He says their arrival signals the start of a series of activities which will open next week.
An ARC cheque presentation is scheduled for this Friday at the Palm Haven Hotel from 9:30 am.
