The head of Speak Out St Lucia has raised his voice against underage drinking.
During a call to Tuesday`s Newsspin programe ,Mr Norbert Williams, pointed listeners to the sale of tickets to children under 16 for an upcoming social event where alcohol will be served.
RCI News has been informed that while the island`s liquor license act prohibits the sale of alcohol to persons under the age of 16 , there isn't any law on the nation`s statute books to prevent them from consuming it.
Publisher of the Star Newspaper and talkshow host, Rick Wayne ,also had his say on underage drinking in St Lucia.
Underage and binge drinking is risky and can lead to car accidents, violent behavior, alcohol poisoning, and other health problems.
Drinking at a young age also greatly increases the risk of developing alcohol problems later in life.
