The island’s lone water company is seeking to repair its infrastructure after suffering a major hit during the Christmas downpour that has resulted in an interruption in the supply islandwide.
WASCO reported that on December 26, 2013, that it expected to have majority of the island's water supply operational by the weekend.
According to WASCO’s General manager Vincent Hippolyte, the Theobalds Treatment Plant was expected to supply the North of the island by the afternoon of December 26 but as a result of damage to mains, some residents may experience decreased water pressure.
Anse La Raye can expect pipe borne water by the weekend but in the meantime, a water truck is deployed to the community.
Repairs at Canaries were problematic due to the extent of damage to the road and water ways. However, repairs are progressing quickly. He added that the water supply in Soufriere is intact save for the supply to Bouton which should come on stream by Friday.
Repairs are ongoing at Hill 20. Residents can expect water by the weekend.
