The Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries through the Saint Lucia Tourism Development Programme will be launching a new tour package called the Lucian Culinary Adventure under the Heritage Tours Brand.

The tour features a practical session designed to give visitors an authentic cooking lesson and experience of Saint Lucian cuisine. Visitors will also get the opportunity to participate in authentic and traditional dances and move to the local rhythms. The tour, Lucian Culinary Adventure will be hosted at one of the island’s Heritage Sites - Pigeon Island National Park.

A total of twenty (20) representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage & Creative Industries, Saint Lucia Tourist Board, Saint Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association, destination management companies, tour companies and hotels will sample the Lucian Culinary Adventure tour on Friday 10th January, 2014.

This culinary tour promotes local cooking with local herbs and spices. The menu includes cocoa tea made from our own Saint Lucian chocolate, ground provisions, samples of the local catch of the day from resident fishermen, refreshing local juices and deserts made from our home grown coconuts, tamarind and other fruits. Visitors will receive their own miniature cooking utensils, coal pot and canawi to cook their own meal.

The tour also features local entertainment. Visitors will participate in the traditional and African dances alive in Saint Lucia. Some of these dances include the Belaire, Counte and Katumba. Local dancers will also teach visitors how to move to the tamboo, banjo, shack shack or steel pan.

The tour culminates with its signature drink called the “Heritage Tumble”!
This tour is one of many ways the Ministry is fusing the development of the Creative Industries, Heritage and job creation and packing them to enhance the visitor experience on island.
