The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has all the reasons to congratulate the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Government and People of that sister Caribbean country, on the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.
The party says, fifty-five years is no short period of time and for the Cuban people, led by the PCC. To have survived all efforts to reverse its progress, the SLP statement adds, is no easy feat.
It further notes that for five-and-a-half decades the PCC, led by Fidel Castro and now by Raul Castro, has provided the level of sterling leadership that has allowed for the Cuban state to be able to provide for its people in health, education and other human needs, while consistently offering limitless solidarity to people’s causes abroad.
The party says, never has Cuba allowed its economic woes to reduce its commitment to give internationalist support to parties, people and governments– and Saint Lucia can attest to that, as we have continued to receive scholarships for students to study in Cuba as well as the services of Cuban health professionals to assist in St. Lucia, among other forms of people-to-people support.
The SLP therefore takes this opportunity to congratulate the PCC, the Cuban Government and the Cuban People on the 55th Anniversary of the Cuban Revolution and to reiterate our continued solidarity for their cause of building a society free and happy, free of hostility and free to continue to shape its revolution in its own image and likeness, for the Cuban people and by the Cuban people.
