The organizer of a planned demonstration to protest the poor quality of water in the Micoud South community on February 22nd has been forced to postpone the event.
Chairperson of the Micoud South Development Committee Philip Jn Baptiste says residents are left without the precious resource for extended periods, adding that the quality of water is further compromised whenever it rains.
But the march to protest the conditions was not to be as it competed other activities to observe St Lucia’s 35th independence anniversary. As a result Mr Jn Baptiste says the protest march has been rescheduled.
Mr Jn Baptiste is hopeful that authorities at the Water and sewerage Company will give due attention to the situation before the plans for the rescheduled march are finalized. He plans for the march are expected to be finalized in the next three weeks.
