Officers attached to the Gros Islet Police confirmed the discovery of a body in the Pigeon Island beach area about 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.
Owing to investigations and assistance from the public, this individual was identified as 22 year old Jaime Innocent of Morne Du Don, Castries. According to family reports, the last interaction with Innocent was on Monday, April 7, 2014.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for Saturday April 12, 2014.
The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) is appealing to anyone who has information which can assist in the investigation of this matter to contact the Gros Islet Police Station at 456 3830 or the nearest police station.
Also, the RSLPF would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in identifying this individual.
Investigations into this incident continue.
On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Southern Division preferred 10 counts of Stealing each against 20 year old Darcy Joseph of Contonment, Vieux Fort and 19 year old Herbert Garbie of Augier, Vieux Fort.
The men appeared before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Bail was granted to them in the sum of $500.00 cash or suitable surety on each charge. They are expected to make a court appearance on May 27, 2014.
Joseph and Garbie were arrested on April 6, 2014 for stealing Wasco’s mental pipes from varying locations within the south of the island.
The alleged perpetrator involved in the stabbing of Moses Bertrand, a taxi driver of Marigot, was earlier released into police custody from a medical institution where he was a patient.
This individual is identified as 26 year old Jerry Christopher Marino of California, USA.
He was formally arrested and charged for the offence of wounding and appeared before the First District Court in Castries on Thursday, April 10, 2014.
