The Monchy Vendors Association has come in for strong criticism following the hosting of Jounen Kweyol activities in the northern community on Sunday.
The censure comes from the Monchy Development Committee which has described the staging of the traditional festivities as a cultural homicide
Trustee on the Committee Zachary Hippolyte says based on the feedback from patron’s attending Sunday’s event, their appetite for cultural diversity was left unsatisfied.
He adds that at least two of the more popular groups were excluded from the cast of performers on the Monchy Journen Kweyol program
Mr Hippolyte believes that community groups must come together when planning such large events that create a lasting impression on patrons who visit from various parts of the island in the future.
He says the Monchy Development Committee is willing to work toward common goals that will auger well for the community.
Monchy was one of three other communities to host Journen Kweyol festivities on Sunday
