The mother of a form one student of the St Mary’s College is outraged over a decision taken by the school which she says has breached her son’s constitutional right to an education.
Ms Bibianna William says her son has been ejected from classes and has been asked to sit on a bench outside for two weeks now because she refuses to cut his hair. She believes that the decision being taken against her son is not only wrong but illegal.
Ms William says she was contacted by the school by its principal who has refused to change his position on the issue. She says she is not willing to budge, herself and will take the matter as far as she can. She questions whether the decision by the school to disallow students to wear long hair is sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.
So far our news desk has not been able to reach the Chief education officer nor the principal of the St Mary’s college for comment
