Cognizant of the upsurge in criminal acts on the island over the past decade, the Saint Lucia National Youth Council is making a statement through its initiation of the “I Stand Against…” campaign.

The initiative which takes the form of a silent march is expected to appeal to the individual consciousness of society. It will be staged  on Wednesday September 25th, 2013, to coincide with the United Nations’ Orange Day, celebrated on the 25th of every month.

The inaugural silent protest is the first of a number of initiatives which will commence from the Derek Walcott Square on Laborie Street, Castries from 3:30pm.

The NYC is hopeful that the silence of the participants will resonate in the souls of St Lucians louder than any cry. Mr Bertrand says the campaign has received the blessing of government and other youth organizations here.
