The Caribbean’s number-one high jumper, Levern Spencer, has come in for high praise from LIME once again following her success in winning the 2014 St Lucia Sportswoman of the Year award.
Levern captured the Sportswoman of the Year title for the 12th time, underscoring her dominance in her sport and her unquestionable status as the Caribbean’s leading high jumper of all time. Her victory comes in the wake of her phenomenal wins in two international competitions in Mexico, prior to which she had captured the women’s high jump at the Auburn Invitational in Alabama USA, setting a new meet record. Earlier in the year, she made it to the IAAF World Indoor Championships finals, placing seventh, reportedly the best-ever result by a Saint Lucian at a global sporting event.
LIME is Levern’s longstanding sponsor and over the years has provided her with financial and telecommunications support to assist with her sporting career and studies. LIME was a major contributor to the ‘Levern London 2012’ initiative aimed at helping Levern with her training and preparations for the 2012 Olympic Games. Just weeks prior to the staging of the National Sports Awards, LIME renewed its contract with Levern, reaffirming the company’s support for the athlete.
Additionally, the company donated the prizes for both the Senior Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year awards. LIME also surprised Levern with an additional award, a charm bracelet, to show its deep admiration for her, and to honour her for her amazing accomplishments.
