The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued on Wednesday with victories for Leon Hess Comprehensive over Babonneau Secondary, Soufriere Comprehensive over Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource and Choiseul Secondary over Piaye Secondary.

At the Monchy Playing Field, Leon Hess Comprehensive earned a well deserved 30 run victory over Babonneau Secondary.  Leon Hess batting first was dismissed for 195 in 37.1 overs with the main contributions coming from Brandt Jean with 27, Michael Williams 25 and Carl Drakes 24. For Babonneau Secondary, the main wicket takers were spinners, Christian Alfred who picked up 5 for 46 in 7.1 overs and Rene Montoute 3 for 34 in 8 overs. Babonneau's wicket keeper Kimani Melius had a very good time behind the stamps as he effected 6 stampings during  Leon Hess' inning.

Babonneau Secondary in reply fell short of their target by 30 runs as they were dismissed for 165 in 21.5 overs with Rene Montoute top scoring with 59 and 32 from Kimani Melius.  Bowling for Leon Hess, Deslee Joseph 3 for 18 in 2 overs, Toine Mitchell 2 for 19 in 2 overs and Jose Cox 2 for 27 in 3 overs.

At the Soufriere Playing Field, home team Soufriere Comprehensive had the better of Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource winning by 164 runs. Soufriere Comprehensive taking first strike was dismissed for 270 in 34.3 overs with useful scores coming from Daniel Emmanuel with 49, Gilbert Prospere 41, Melody Jules 33 and Neilus Prospere 32. Bowling for Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource, Kurt Herman 5 for 57 in 5 overs and Alikhan Joseph 2 for 30 in 6 overs.
In reply, despite 53 from Denzel James Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource was dismissed for 106 in 19.1 overs. Doing the damage for Soufriere Comprehensive were Zack Anthony who picked up 5 for 29 in 6.1 overs and Romal George 2 for 31 in 6 overs.

At the Piaye Playing Field, Choiseul Secondary defeated Piaye Secondary by 30 runs. Choiseul Secondary sent in was dismissed for 138 in 33.1 overs with Ned Modeste and Jacqaine Mesmine making 20 each and 19 a piece from Rangene Francois and Kurt Stephen.  Bowling for Piaye Secondary, Mathew Henry 3 for 26 in 8 overs and Tristan Norbal 3 for 43 in 4 overs.
Chasing 139 for victory, Piaye Secondary lost wickets steadily and was eventually bowled out for 108 in 23.1 overs with Nick Andrew 27 and Kyle Harris 25 the only batsmen to offer any resistance.  For Choiseul Secondary, the chief wicket takers were, Jacqaine Mesmaine who bagged 5 for 25 in 6.1 overs and Ned Modeste 4 for 22 in 5 overs.

Two matches are carded for Thursday February 19 as the tournament continues.  At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Entrepot Secondary clashes with Gros Islet Secondary and at the Dennery Playing Field, it will be Micoud Secondary coming up against George Charles Secondary.
