Sandisha Antoine, the 23-year-old former CARIFTA champion and French Under-23 champion, established the new mark recently in Martinique, where she has lived and trained for years.

Competing at the 2ème Tour des Hivernages in Fort de France, Sandisha had a best effort of 13.24m. Registered with the club Asco Inter Atlas, it was the furthest the southern native has gone since 2013, when she set the previous National Record of 13.20 in mainland France.

Two of Sandisha's three jumps were past the old National Record, and excellent effort after her recovery from a hamstring injury last season. She was edged by Nathalie Marie-Nelly of Ca Montreuil for the gold in Fort de France, with a 13.32m clearance.
