In the latest results of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Massy United Insurance Under 19 School Cricket Tournament played on Thursday, victories were recorded by Sir Arthur Lewis over Entrepot Secondary, Corinth Secondary over Babonneau Secondary and Choiseul Secondary over Soufriere Comprehensive.
At the Monchy Playing Field, Sir Arthur Lewis completed a comfortable 8 wicket victory over Entrepot Secondary. Entrepot Secondary batting first, never really settled and were eventually dismissed for 88 in 17.2 overs with Tyrel Chicot and Travis Papin making 15 each and 14 to Trevor Norley. Off spinner Jamie Mathurin was Sir Arthur Lewis' leading wicket taker with 5 for 13 in 4.2 overs. He was supported by Simeon Dalkhan who took 2 for 26 in 4 overs and one wicket each for Adeju Hobson and Millan David.
In reply, Sir Arthur Lewis made light work of their target, finishing on 89 for 2 in just 6.2 overs with Millan David finishing on 20 not out and Allain Ashby making 19. The wicket takers for Entrepot Secondary were, Craig Elisee and Ellan La Force with one wicket each.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, Corinth Secondary won over Babonneau Secondary by 2 wickets. Babonneau Secondary taking first strike was dismissed for 127 in 20 overs with Kimani Melius contributing 34 and Rene Montoute 33. Bowling for Corinth Secondary, Raphael Largen 4 for 20 in 4 overs and Ryan Hippolyte 3 for 10 in 4 overs.
Chasing 128 for victory, Corinth Secondary finished on 128 for 8 in 19 overs with Lerry Auguste 18 and Lee Solomon 16. Bowling for Babonneau Secondary, Rene Montoute 4 for 40 in 7.3 overs.
At the Piaye Playing Field, Soufriere Comprehensive registered a comfortable 7 wicket victory over Choiseul Secondary. Batting first, Choiseul Secondary was dismissed for 120 in 34.4 overs with Kimbert Edward making 29 and Nick Joseph 23. Bowling for Soufriere Comprehensive, Kuson Joseph 3 for 22 in 10 overs, Romol George 2 for 28 in 10 overs and Trevor Edward 2 for 34 in 7 overs.
Set a victory target of 121, Soufriere Comprehensive led by an unbeaten half century from Julian Sylvester, easily got there finishing on 122 for 3 in 21 overs. Sylvester batted steadily finishing on 77 not out. Good support also came from Dillon Monrose with 14. For Choiseul Secondary, Jacquaine Mesmain, Darrel Francis and Kimbert Edward finished with one wicket each.
The tournament continues on Friday with Sir Ira Simmons coming up against Vide Bouteille Secondary at the Gros Islet Playing Field and Clendon Mason Memorial plays George Charles Secondary at the Dennery Playing Field.
