Former West Indies captain Darren Sammy has re-signed with the Hobart Hurricanes for the fifth edition of the KFC T20 Big Bash League. Sammy featured in purple on four occasions in BBL|04, but expects to be available for all of Hobart’s matches this upcoming summer. The BBL|05 agreement is an extension of the West Indian’s original contract which included an option for a second season; an option which Sammy has taken the Hurricanes up on. “Why wouldn't I want to come back?” said Sammy, “After all, nothing hits you like a hurricane.” “It felt like a home away from home with the Cane train and in the beautiful city of Hobart. “It’s a great team, great city and full of great people.” The big allrounder arrived with a bang, blasting 38 off 12 deliveries, in his maiden BBL match against the Melbourne Stars. Overall, the allrounder averaged 21 with the bat at a strike rate of 210 last season and also picked up two wickets.
