The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports has indicated its intention to refurbish the island’s multi-purpose courts—after having recently concluded the upgrading of community playing fields and general sporting infrastructure in targeted communities, island wide.
Just prior to the 2015 Jean Pierre Caribbean Netball Association’s under-16 Netball Tournament, the playing court at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Complex was resurfaced in time for the opening of the championships.
“The courts have been refurbished. We have an excellent surface here on which to play netball and I am sure that all the teams participating in the competition will be happier for it,” Minister for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Shawn Edward said.
“We have resurfaced playing fields, we have installed lights, and only last week, we commenced a new program in collaboration with the National Lotteries Association to construct community pavilions,” he added.
The Minister said that the government has made it a point, this term, to pay particular attention to upgrading and uplifting the sporting infrastructure in the country.
