After a relatively quiet first four months of the year for the ST.Lucia Boxing Association the coming few months will be a very busy one for them. The association has shortlisted a number of boxers for a series of upcoming regional and international engagements.
ST.Lucia is expected to participate with a six member team and three officials at the OECS Boxing championships in Grenada May 28th to the 30th.ST Lucia are defending OECS Boxing champions having won the tournament when it was last held in 2013 right here in ST. Lucia. The ST. Lucia team for Grenada will be announced next week.
Two of ST.Lucia’s senior or Elite boxers Lyndell “the Russian” Marcellin and Arthur Langelier are scheduled to participate in the Pan American games Boxing qualifiers in Mexico June 4th to the 9th.
ST.Lucia is also scheduled to participate at the Annual Creole Boxing championships in Martinique July 1st to the 4th. ST.Lucia finished in second place losing out on the title by one point to French Guyana last year in Guadeloupe.
Several boxers from ST.Lucia at the Novice, Junior. Youth,Elite and Womens divisions are expected to take part in a Caribbean Boxing Championships set for Aruba in late September.
Meantime 64 kg Lightwelterweight boxer Adrian Brad Louis is preparing to participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa September 5th to the 11th.
ST.Lucia may also participate in the AMBC continental championships AIBA World Boxing champions in Doha Qatar in October. On the local front a series of road shows have been scheduled to fine tune the boxers preparation and readiness for the previously mentioned events.
Road shows have been planned for Mabouya Valley,Soufriere, Choiseul and Vieux Fort.
