The Soufriere Regional Development Foundation’s Twenty20 Cricket Competition is picking up steam, with several games played in the past week. Defending champions Challengers took on Belfond, the team they defeated in the finals last year. Challengers were 52/2 in the first six overs, but after a 30-run partnership between Keither Prospere and Alex Antoine, the challenge tailed off.

The Champions lost their last five wickets for only 38 runs, restricting them to just 125. Prospere made 25 and Antoine 24. Jervan Charles and Sylvanus Augustin took three wickets each. Belfond wasted no time chasing down the runs. They broke the tournament record by scoring 84 runs in the powerplay.

The opening pair of Junior Henry and Gregor Michel put on a 105 runs partnership in only 58 deliveries. The Challengers bowlers had no answer to the Belfond attack and within 11.1 overs Belfond was able to chase down the runs. Junior Henry was man of the match with 76, and Michel was unbeaten on 36 as Belfond won by nine wickets. Market Road, meanwhile, were beaten by rivals Barons Drive. Barons Drive made 134/6, Kendal Theophane 36, Shervin George 3-20. Market Road compiled 128/5, Denzil James 61, Shervin George 28 not out, and Methodius Paul 2-26.
