Jamaican Stafanie Taylor and Barbadian Sulieman Benn were named West Indies Female and Male players of the year, respectively.

The announcement was made at the West Indies ‎Cricket Board (WICB)/West Indies Players Association (WIPA) third annual Players' Award ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus in Kingston, a short while ago.

Taylor was winning the award for the ninth consecutive time, while Benn was winning the award for the first time.

Another Jamaican, Jermaine Blackwood, was named emerging player of the year.

Trinidad and Tobago cricketers Denesh Ramdin, Lendl Simmons and Samuel Badree were among the winners

12 awards were given to players and teams that excelled in both Regional and International cricket over the 2014 Cricket Season.

Simmons, who has been great with the bat both for the West Indies, in the Caribbean Premier League and Indian Premier League was awarded the ‘Caribbean T20 Cricketer of the Year’.

Similarly though, for his International achievements, Badree earned himself the ‘West Indies T20 Cricketer of the Year’ award, while Test captain Denesh Ramdin picked up his honour as the ‘West Indies ODI Player of the Year.
