The St Lucia National Cricket Association continues with the preparation of its male senior cricket team in readiness for up coming Windwards tournament scheduled for Grenada in 3 weeks time with two practice matches at the Beausejour Cricket Ground over the weekend.
On Friday Garey Mathurin's team came up against Craig Emmanuel's team in a limited over match. Batting first Emmanuel's team reached 130 for 8 in 30 overs with useful scores coming from Junior Henry who made 39 and Craig Emmanuel 34. Bowling for Mathurin's team, Dwight Thomas 2 for 4, Merlan Sammy 2 for 23, Vince Smith 2 for 27 and Walter Emmanuel 2 for 21. In reply Mathurin's team cruised to victory reaching 133 for 5 in 28 overs with the main contributors being Dennis Louis 38, Gaspard Prospare 26 not out, Kurt Edward 23 and Dwight Thomas 19. Alex Antione was the most successful bowler for his team taking 3 for 43 and was supported by Kevin Augustin 1 for 18 and Alleyne Prospare 1 for 19.
On Saturday the teams were engaged in a 20/20 trial match. Taking first knock Emmanuel's team made 165 for 4 in their alloted 20 overs with Alex Antione top scoring with 55. He was supported by his captain Craig Emmanuel who made 42, Sergio Fedee 27 and Junior Henry 17. The wicket takers for Mathurin's team were Walter Emmanuel, Merlan Sammy, Mervin Wells and Vince Smith taking one wicket each. In reply Mathurin's team reached 127 for 8 in 18 overs with usefull contributions coming from Jason Simon 35, Dwight Thomas 19 and Garey Mathurin 18. Kevin Augustin was his teams most successful bowler taking 3 for 21 and was supported by Darren Jn Pierre who picked up 2 for 17 and one wicket each to Alex Antione and Audy Alexander.
Please note that all national selectees should attend training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground or the Beauchamp Playing field from 3:00 pm.
