In a collaborative effort between the St. Lucia Football Association and the organizers of the Veterans League and just after 11.10pm before a sparce but very appreciative crowd saw Dennery rekindle their winning streak when they convincingly defeated Black Heart Champions Gros Islet 3 – 1, at the Beausejour Playing Field in a fast and action paced encounter. From the onset both teams attempted to seize the initiative but were undone by their failure to capitalize on their numerous scoring opportunities which went a begging.
Half time saw the score locked at 0 – 0.
Kerwin Mc Phee scored in the 71st minute from a solid header, following the taking of a curling Free Kick. This was a wake call for Dennery who immediately counter attacked and were rewarded when against the run of play Calixte Biscette equalized in the 82nd. minute, This continued to spur on his team which resulted in Mc. Gregur Raymond scoring in the 84th minute. The issue was finally sealed when a fine solo run resulted in Wendell Felix scoring in the 89th minute.
Earlier on in the Third Place Play Off Soufriere United completely dominated Black Heart Runners Up Baonneau 3 – 0 in a one sided affair. This match up did not live up to expectations as the players from the West immediately stamped their authority from the opening whistle. Soufriere owed their victory through goals from Jerome Serville in the 24th minute and double strikes from Martin Gustave in the 55th and 70th minute.
