A contingent of two boxers and one official will represent ST.Lucia this weekend at a Boxing Card in Morne –A- L’Eau Guadeloupe put on by the Guadeloupan national Boxing Committee. The card will be held Friday evening.
The boxers making the trip to Guadeloupe are 56kg Bantamweight Travis Maynard who is making a return to the sport after a short absence through injury and other personal reasons,and Middleweight Arthur Langillier a double gold medalist for ST.Lucia during their championship winning campaigns at the OECS and Creole Boxing championships earlier this year.
The boxers will be accompanied to Guadeloupe by Coach Conrad Frederick.
The party is due to leave here on Friday afternoon and return Sunday evening.
Meantime the ST.Lucia Amateur Boxing Association is in the planning stages for two major boxing events to be held here next month to close of their 2013 programme in grand style.
A big exhibition card is planned for Friday December 13th national day at the Sab Sporting facility which will feature several of the island’s top boxers and some new female boxers who have recently enrolled in the programme of the ST.Lucia Amateur Boxing Association.
The other event is a boxing day boxing extravanganza to be held Thursday December 26th at a venue to be confirmed shortly featuring ST.Lucia’s top amateur boxers coming up against regional opponents from Trinidad and Tobago and Guadeloupe. ST.Lucia and Trinidad’s elite boxers earmarked for participation at the 2014 Commonwealth games will use this event as preparation for the games.
