The newly established Coolie Town grassroots football program received a tremendous boost on the weekend through a donation of a playing kit from the VSADC Youth Academy.
The Coolie Town grassroots program, which is headed by former General Secretary of the Football Association Evastus Agustin, targets at risk youth in the community and engages them through football.
Mr. Augustin approached the VSADC Youth Academy for assistance as he attempts to use football to instill lessons of discipline, hard word and the benefits of team work to twenty three (23) young men from the community.
For past few weeks the VSADC Youth Academy has integrated the members of the Coolie Town grassroots football program into their regular academy sessions so that they can get the experience of being in a structured and organized coaching environment.
This culminated with a triangular friendly competition featuring the youngsters from the Marchand and Coolie Town grassroots programs and the VSADC Youth Academy.
The hope now is that with the provision of the kit and some additional technical assistance the Coolie Town program will now host its sessions on the community playing field and will attract more youth from the area into its ranks.
