The Martinique Gommier Yacht race which took place on Friday 14th March saw 6 yachts leaving Martinique and arriving at the Gros Islet Water Front at 3.00 p.m.  Upon the arrival a welcome ceremony which was organized by the Gros Islet Constituency Council and the St. Lucia Tourist Board was held at the Gros Islet Water Front with welcome speeches from the District Representative Miss Emma Hippolyte, the Mayor Mr. Clarence Rambally and the St. Lucia Martinique Association.

A Cocktail and Prize Ceremony was held on Saturday 15th March at the Gros Islet Constituency Building and Trophies were presented to the winners:
1st place – Pamo Souef
2nd Place – The Come Back

2rd Place – Welcome

A trophy was also given to the Gommier participant Welcome which won the Regatta race which was also held on Saturday.  Participants Certificates were also presented to all the Gommier Boats.  

Due to some problems experienced on the sea two boats namely Freedom and Socaco were not able to make it to St. Lucia.

The Gommier participants expressed their thanks and indicated that they had a very good weekend in St. Lucia and was very impressed with the Welcome Ceremony and the Cocktail Event which provided them with some entertainment.

The Gros Islet Constituency Council expressed its gratitude and thanks to the St. Lucia Tourist Board and all other organizations for their contributions and the Director of the Tourist Board Mr. Louie Lewis was presented with a Thank You Trophy.  The Martinique Association President was also given a Thank You Gift.
