The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports continues preparation of National Under 15 male cricket team in readiness for the Windward Islands Tournament which will take place in St Lucia from April 13th to the 20th with two trial matches over the weekend at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
On Saturday the teams were led by Johnnel Eugene and Dane Edward. Johnnel Eugene's team batting first reached an impressive 233 for 6 in their allotted 42 overs with half centuries coming from Kimani Melius who top scored with 73 and from Dezral Long who made 65. Skipper Johnnel Eugene also chipped in with 33. Leg spinner Dmitirus Lamontagne was the leading wicket taker for Dane Edward's team finishing with 4 for 39 in 9 overs. Dane Edward and Kimani Sexius also picked up 1 wicket each.
In reply, Dane Edward's team only managed to reach 173 for 7 in their allotted 42 overs with useful scores coming from captain Edward who made 35, Garvin Serieux with 34, Dominique Auguste 17, Jard Goodman 15 and Rene Montoute 12. Left arm orthodox spinner Simeon Gerson was the pick of the bowlers for Johnnel Eugene's team taking 4 for 29 in 10 overs. Sanjay Hayle, Lerry Auguste and Johnnel Eugene also finished with 1 wicket each.
On Sunday in another trial match the teams were led by Ned Modeste and Jeannick Serieux. Ned Modeste's team batting first, were dismissed for 137 in 28 overs with Kimani Sexius contributing 40, Stephen Mitchel 18 and Dominique Auguste 11. Bowing for Jeannick Serieux's team, Lerry Auguste 4 for 25 in 6 overs, Simeon Gerson 2 for 22 in 6 overs and 1 wicket each to Dillon La Force and Jeannick Serieux. In reply, Jeannick Serieux's team were bowled out for 110 in 24 overs with Lerry Auguste making 20, Dray Alexander 17 and Marlon Remy 14. Bowling for Ned Modeste's team, Modeste himself taking 4 for 11 in 5 overs, Kwesi Hobson 2 for 24 in 5 overs and 1 wicket each to Ali Scott, Kimani Sexius, Rapheal Largan and Dudley Charles.
