Hoe Bridge School out of the United Kingdom began their 15-day Cricket Tour of Saint Lucia on a losing note, going down to John Eugene’s Academy by a massive 143 runs at the Gros Islet Playing Field yesterday.
Batting first, John Eugene’s Academy piled up 207 for the loss of five wickets from their 30 overs. Opener, Brant Jean made a boisterous 77, while captain Simeon Gaston weighed in with a controlled knock of 30. The two produced a second-wicket partnership of 94. Extras (mainly ‘wides’) contributed a very healthy 80 runs.
The English 13-and-Under kids were woeful in response as they collapsed to 64 all out. Daniel Siddeeq (12), and Max Knowles (10) were the only two batsmen to reach double figure scores as Sanjay Hayle (4 for 7), KcKenny Clarke (3 for 7), Keegan Arnold (2 for 8), and Simeon Garson (1 for none) shared the wickets to fall.
John Eugene’s Academy 207 for 5 in 30 overs.
Hoe Bridge School 64 all out in 17.3 overs.
