The tenth International Seniors Cricket Festival which bowled off here on March 24th, ended yesterday at the Beausejour Cricket Ground where the best of the English and Canada players came up against the best of the Trinidad and Saint Lucia players.
Batting first, the combined English & Canada Team totalled 170 for 6 from their 35 overs following an opening stand of 65 between Timothy Moult (42) and Farook Kermani (29), and then a fifth-wicket stand of 53 between Martin Downes (24) and Richard Moore (40 not out).
Kenneth Johnitty was the Caribbean team most successful bowler with 3 for 33 from his six overs.
Hermangile Francis (16) and Reynold Siewdass (12) started the chase with a partnership of 31, but the Caribbean Team’s best moments came when Man-of-the-Match, Kenneth Johnitty and Clint Phamphille featured in an unbroken 6th wicket stand of exactly 100.
Phamphile rocketed to 62 off 49 balls with six fours, while the more sedate Johnitty finished on 51 from 80 balls, five of which were boundaries.
Combined English & Canada team 170 for 6 in 35 overs.
Combined Trinidad & Saint Lucia team 171 for 5 in 30.3 overs.
At the end of the match, a number of awards were presented for outstanding performances during the Festival.
