The very talented, youthful and skillfull Le Pang of Dennery emerged winners of the 2014 Guinness Street Challenge Small Goals Football Competition the finals of which took place yesterday at the Vieux Fort Multipurpose Courts in Vieux Fort Town.
Le Pang defeated Fantastic of Soufriere in the finals after the final ended 1-1 after extra time. Sylverius Vidal put Le Pang ahead in the extra time period but just before the end of the game the prolific Barry Felix who scored the most goals in the finals, four goals, equalized for Fantastic but they lost in the penalty shoot out with Le Pang scoring one of their three penalties and Fantastic missing all theirs from the spot. Slyverius Vidal scored Three goals in the Finals for Le Pang.
For their victory Le Pang receives $4000 ec dollars and gets a chance to represent ST.Lucia at the Regional Guinness Street Challenge Small Goals Finals in Trinidad in June . This was the third time in four years that Fantastic of Soufriere were making the finals in the overall tournament finals winning in the inaugural year and losing twice.
The captain of the winning team Le Pang of Dennery ,Karim Gilbert was elated at their victory.
Guinness Brand Manager Sylvester “Sausi” Henry. On their way to the finals Le Pang got past Renegades, Young Guns and El Ninos in the semi finals. Fantastic had beaten, Cant take you Christ, Veterans, and the defending champions Platinum FC in the semi finals before losing the final to Le Pang.
