St. Lucia's prolific highjumper, Levern Spencer, continued her fine start to the 2014 outdoor season with another gold medal winning performance in Guadeloupe last Saturday.

Competing for the first time at the "Meeting International Region Guadeloupe 2014" , Spencer, the region's premiere highjumper who is currently joint No.1 on the 2014 Iaaf  world listing, cleared a mark 1.91m to win the gold medal, setting a meet record in the process. This was the star highjumpers 5th consecutive clearance over 1.90m for this year as she continues one of her most successful seasons ever.

This victory was made even more significant by the fact that in the process, Spencer, the Caricom record holder defeated the US record holder and joint No.1 on the world listing for this year Chaunte Lowe, who placed second clearing a similar height as Spencer but with more misses.

Another worldclass highjumper in the person of France' record holder and No.1 ranked, Melanie Skotnik was only able to clear 1.80 on the day, for the bronze medal.

Spencer has since then returned to the US, as she continues to train for upcoming events, with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow Scotland her main championship for 2014.
