Watched by a very enthusiastic and excited crowd the battle between arch rivals Big Players and a very determined Arundell Hill team was settled by one goal late in the second half of play through a well-directed header at the far post from Nikki Joseph in the 73rd minute ensuring Big Players a place in the 2014 Marchand Big 8 final. Arundell Hill squandered several goal scoring opportunities while Big Players had fewer opportunities in the first half. Big Players now await the result of today’s second semi-final between the energetic Marchand Under 21 and Bagatelle who are always spurred on by their large following of fans.
Sunday’s final will see Arundell Hill taking on today’s losing team for the third place trophy and $500.00 cash at 2pm while today’s winner will face Big Players at 4pm for a purse of $2000.00 to the winner and $1000.00 to the losing finalist. Tournament organizers, Sound City International, have received much praise for the revival of football in Marchand and the partnership with the Parliamentary Rep, Hon. Philip J. Pierre and Du Boulay’s Bottling Company seems to be the right formula for success.
