On the eve of their 68th year in existence, New Park booked a place in the Finals of the Castries Cricket Association T20 competition with a nail biting 3 run win over archrivals Lancers last Saturday.
Sent in to bat, New Park made heavy weather of good conditions and were dismissed for 112 in 19.4 overs. Wade Clovis 43 and Keddy Lesporis 18, were the Parkites main contributors with the bat. For Lancers Canice Richardson bagged 3/23 and Kendal Montoute 2/25.
At 69 without loss, Lancers seemed headed for victory; however, the introduction of spinners Keddy Lesporis (3/15) and Bryan Calixte (3/13) turned the course of the match.
Lancers hung on to need 6 runs off the final over. However, the final over bowled by Bryan Calixte only yielded 2 runs and the loss of three wickets. Lancers restricted to 109/8, Hubert Joseph 28 and Jamal James 24 were the main scorers for Lancers.
In the second semifinal Police continued their winning ways with 116 run win over Unique.
Police: 194/5 (Esau Gabriel 62, Alleyene Prosper 35)
Unique: 78 (Azar Francois 23, Joshua Mann 16, Alleyne Prosper 4/12, Esau Gabriel 3/7).
Police will play New Park in the Finals at a date to be announced.
